Streamripper good, governments bad

My brother and I use this wonderful program extensively, at least until it's illegal. Last weekend, we both tried desperately, to find a way, to help a lady in Dublin, with Streamripper installation. Her system refused to install this program, she continually received a mesage that "this software is illegal for installation". Is this a common problem? Anywhere in the world? Comments or opinions would be appreciated. She called last night, to see if we had found a solution to her problem. Is this some unique DRM scheme? A governmental mandate? Or user ignorance? Any info would be appreciated. I realize the day is coming, when non-paid copies, with 3 witnesses, and a physical receipt, are grounds for litigation, but we aren't there yet. Are we?

Hi. Today I've downloaded it for the 1st time (command line), and there's not an installer, it's just a copy->paste folder..

Fantastic. the versions we have are GUI based plug-ins. I have several versions, and not all work with certain versions of WinAmp. I'd really like to find an answer for this lady, and will attempt to find the command line version. It took us quite a bit of time to explain Firefox install to this lady, so command line may not be an option. I'll look into it anyway. Thanx for the info.

If you're using the same Winamp version (or same branch at least, like 2.x, 3.x or 5.x), you can download and install it on your machine, then just send over the appropriate files in the plugins directory.. that's all that's needed to make Streamripper work.. the installer does nothing more than copy some files into the plugin folder.
