Hi all :)
I recently comes to x264 and so, I performed an encod with meGui and x264. Everything went fine at encoding. Then, I used MkvMergeGui 1.6.5 to mux it.

My problem is at reading. I use :

frontend : ZoomPlayer Pro 4.51
Mkv splitter : Haali Media Splitter (11 oct 2005)
H.264 decoder : ffdshow (29 nov 2005)

Everything is well set in ZP. But, when I load it :

1) display aspect ratio is bad : it looks like 16:9. The picture is flatten. How is it possible ?

Here are the information grab with MatroskaDiag

Tracks :
TrackEntry :
TrackNumber : 1
TrackUID : 4057849507
TrackType : 1
FlagEnabled : 1
FlagDefault : 1
FlagForced : 0
FlagLacing : 0
MinCache : 1
TrackTimecodeScale : 1
MaxBlockAdditionID : 0
CodecID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
CodecDecodeAll : 1
DefaultDuration : 40000226
Language : und
Video :
PixelWidth : 720
PixelHeight : 400
Skipping element with ID 9A at position 4434
DisplayWidth : 720
DisplayHeight : 400

It looks good.

2) Usually, I can perform PP and redimensionning with ffdshow. in this case, nothing happen. ffdshow is loaded but it doesn't catch the stream. why ?

After a few tests, it seems that ZP doesn't call ffdshow for video decoding and audio decoding. How works Haali Media Splitter with ZP ? When it detects an H.264, does it call ffdshow ?

Thanks for any help :)

Is the movie supposed to be 16:9?

Open the mkv file in graphedit and post the graph it constructs. That would be helpful.

No, the movie is 1:1. I have performed redimensionning in .avs script.

And for graphedit :

Which fourcc should I put in mkvmerge for x264 : mp4v ?

Huh? Movies only are in aspect ratios of 4:3 or 16:9... I think you are confusing the SAR of 1:1 set in x264 with the DAR of the movie. They aren't the same thing.

Must be a problem with zoomplayer since the graph is connecting properly. Try saving the graph and loading it in zoomplayer.

I'm not very aware about different AR.

To sumarize :
I encoded my movie at 720x400, and I want to display it at the same resolution with square pixel :)

It's not hard. Either the movie is 4:3 letterboxed or 16:9 anamorphic.

Well when you muxed the mkv file I assume that it was flagged to be displayed at 16:9 or your player is set to display at 16:9 and since 720x400 is not exactly a proper 16:9 resolution the video was resized to be displayed at the proper DAR.

Fine ! It was a problem of configuration of Zoomplayer. The mkv was properly muxed.

Thanks :)
