Hi all,
Im a bit of a newbie when it comes to encoding.
I just got a new Archos Gmini 402 and I was wondering how can I encode recordings I have on my MCE so that it would play on my Gmini.
I know that the file should end up as an avi, either divx or xvid, and sound must be set to CBR only. But I dont know which software to use and the right way to configure it.
Also I would like to know if there is a very quick way to edit the recording before encoding such as removing commercials from the video file first.
Thanks.

Take a look at this recent thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101723), you'll find some discussion on Archos devices towards the bottom.

As far as editing, read this thread aimed at editing out commercials (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=98040), it looks like VobBlanker might be a good option. That really comes down to what kind of editing experience you've got, if the answer is "very little", there's probably not going to be an "easy" answer for you. :)

You can do some digging on your own by running a forum search using "commerdials" as keyword; that'll return a lot of interesting threads. Remember to go over the Forum Rules so you don't bring us an issue we can't respond to.
