Hi all,
I'm a bit confused *blush* It's been 6 months since I touched any video software. But my education in DVD to avi started here so it's back to school time. I've made 100's of avi using AutoGK & the now gone DVD Decrypter. Good work on AutoGK and Gordian Knot, thank you :-)
But I have never turned ripped files back into a DVD.
Using DVD Decrypter, I ripped a heap of DVDs with the intention of creating avi's. Now I need to turn those ripped files back into DVDs. The ripped files seem to have the "wrong" name for DVDShrink & Nero. Both these programs are looking for VIDEO_TS.ifo however the folder structure is
.credits
VTS_01_0.IFO & VTS_01_PGC_01_0.ifo at 80kb
VTS_01_PGC_01 - Stream Information.txt
VTS_01_PGC_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_PGC_01_7.VOB
Renaming doesn't help. DVDShrink displays I/O error messages. Nero just won't play.
Cheers

Why would you want to do that? If the VIDEO_TS.ifo is missing just rip it from the DVD again. Anyway the most easiest way would be to just drop in the DVD and run DVD Decrypter (to create an ISO) or DVD Shrink on it again (in case you want to go from DVD9 -> DVD5).

Re-ripping the now damaged DVDs is not always an option. Some work , some don't.
It seems like I need an ifo editor.
I tried ifoedit however DVD Shrink complains about invalid navigation structure.
I guess I need the .ifos and the menus so maybe I can try to pull just those files off the discs and add them to the folder with the vobs.
Will that work ?
PS: I don't need to shrink anything. I have dl discs. I use DVDShrink because it is easy

Based on the filenames, it looks like you've ripped your DVDs using DVD Decrypter in "IFO mode", when what's required to duplicate your DVD is to use DVD Decrypter in "File mode" to rip ALL files (NOT just "movie" files) - or rip in "ISO mode". Re-ripping your original purchased DVDs, as suggested by "communist", may be the only option...

That's it !

Yep, when I originally ripped them the plan was to make .avi's so I didn't rip iso's.

Do I have to rip the whole disc ?
Some are a bit worse for wear and I've got the bulk of the data on the hard disk already.
Can I start the rip and when it comes to rip the big .vob files cancel out ?
If it's too much of a hassle, I'll just continue with my old.old plan and encode them in AutoGK.

Moving to 1-click forum, since this has *nothing* to do with (A)GK. Glad you got your problem solved.

If you have a .vob file (ripped in IFO mode, you can open it in DVDShrink in the "Reauthor mode" (instead the "Full disc" mode.
In the comression settings you can choose your audio-, sub- streams.
What you get is the main movie, no menues but better & faster than using AutoGK. :)

could he/she not use dvdfab to create the VIDEO_TS.ifo, when I have screwed something up I copied the the videots file and bup file from another DVd , popped it in the problem folder and than ran DVdFab - I have not done it in a while but I think it works.

You might want to try DVDSanta I have had very good luck with it & I usually just use any one of the .IFO files and drag it over to it. Just a thought....
Good Luck,
Bools.
