I read about how the layer break is calculated and the rules surrounding its precise placement if I were writing the code in a program. What I don't understand is the method that pre-coded application programs like CLONEDVD2, DVDShrink, DVD2ONE, et al, use to intelligently insert the layer break and change to the second layer in burning a DVD DL disc.
Lets use CloneDVD2 as an example. CloneDVD2 is able to find the Layer Break and remove it on the original 2 Layer DVD. Now I want to delete some titles and re-write onto a DVD+DL Verbatim with a new Layer break being inserted. Does CloneDVD2 look for the end of a chapter and do it at that point? Surely, it must try to insert a break at a point on the DVD DL disc where the delay is not annoying upon replay on a standalone player. What about the user giving the program a place to insert the Layer break?
How does it work?
Thanks,
