I read about how the layer break is calculated and the rules surrounding its precise placement if I were writing the code in a program. What I don't understand is the method that pre-coded application programs like CLONEDVD2, DVDShrink, DVD2ONE, et al, use to intelligently insert the layer break and change to the second layer in burning a DVD DL disc.

Lets use CloneDVD2 as an example. CloneDVD2 is able to find the Layer Break and remove it on the original 2 Layer DVD. Now I want to delete some titles and re-write onto a DVD+DL Verbatim with a new Layer break being inserted. Does CloneDVD2 look for the end of a chapter and do it at that point? Surely, it must try to insert a break at a point on the DVD DL disc where the delay is not annoying upon replay on a standalone player. What about the user giving the program a place to insert the Layer break?

How does it work?

Thanks,

Good question. I'm interested in this one too, if anyone knows.

What about the user giving the program a place to insert the Layer break?Use PGCEdit to place the layer break. It is the only program that will give you multiple choices on where to put the layer break, along with the option of previewing each cell. It could not be easier. PGCEdit even makes the image file using mkiso and then automatically burns it with ImgBurn.
