just now, the old beta for the helium pack ran out on me.

i was doing encodes from HD sources - 17 hrs each pass. with 2 hrs left on the 2nd pass it popped up a message saying it has expired and just stopped working. frame rate dropped to '0'

on another PC i am trying 6.1 beta 2 and am worried the same thing will happen with this one.

will that happen or will the encode at least finish first?

Patch 2 for 6.1 codec works just like the full verison of DivX 6.1 - if you have a registered version it will never expire, and if your 6 month DivX Pro trial runs out it will fall back to the free functionality - you can still encode, just not with all of the advanced features in Pro.

I'm hoping to roll out 6.1.1 on DivX Labs in the next few days (including all the updates from patch 2 and a couple more) and then in the main DivX bundles on DivX.com shortly thereafter.

You really shouldn't be using Helium at this point anyway - it was pre-6.1. This is why we set time outs on certain Labs releases - people keep using them forever but they were designed only for demo and testing purposes.

Hope that helps! :)

to be honest, i just forgot about it. i had about 10 things queued up in vdubmod and it was the timing above all else that annoyed me.

i've jumped on to 6.1b2 now and restarted all encodes.

as far as the 'still able to encode' bit - that wasnt true for me. it just stopped cold. testing with another encode did the same thing. vdubs status window popped up, frame rate stayed on 0 permanently, the error message about being expired opened up and IE launced in the background going to labs.divx.com

on a sidenote - the codec uses h.263. will this eventually change to 264?
