I'm relatively new to x264 and I have a couple of questions.

1- I have an AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz (a little slow CPU nowadays, I'm afraid), and having some trouble with x264 decoding even with VLC. What amazes me most is that VLC decoding seems to depend on the dshow filter I'm using. It decodes fine when I use CoreAVC but doesn't when I use ffdshow. How can this be since VLC does not use dshow for decoding?

2- I want to try lossless x264. What would be the recommended ffdshow compiles/settings for my CPU?

this gives you a guideline on what to best en/disable

of course there is no way around trying yourself what plays in realtime on your pc...
