I could link a few guides I'm following but I hope you pal beleive I've read and researched the topic to no avail.
1, how do I fix the frame rate at 29.970 of 100% NTSC video in DGIndex - or how the heck do I perform IVTC? That's never actually explained here (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dgindex.htm) despite what the guide says.

It seems there are issues concerning DivX6 in Gordian Knot (like the results in the Bits/Pixel*Frame field). 2, does that also affect the Average Bitrate report? I'm getting 23337kBit/s (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/anitadark/GK-bitrate.png) for the 1st chapter of the Lord Of The Rings, The Two Towers. 3, what's wrong there and how do I re-configure the codec with the correct average bitrate?
4, how do I find what the best resolution is with results like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/anitadark/GK-resolution.png)?

Thanks in advance!

Check the Ignore Pulldown flags Option in Video->Field Opertaions. I suggest you to use Force Film. You may better to use XviD, but you choice to decide. If you archiving on 2cd and more use the res about 704x or 720x

You're getting odd b/p*f values because you're trying to fit 4 mins of video into 700 MB of disk space.

In order to IVTC, the source must have been Telecined. With GK, you must examine the source frame by frame manually to confirm this, if the MPEG-2 flags (used by DGIndex) are not correct.

The software discusssed is out of date, but the information in www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm will be hellpful.

That article now makes more sense.
It's pure interlaced material I'm dealing with. This is a couple of porn DVD I rented.

So I've got the .d2v file from Field Operations set to Ignore the Pulldown Flags. Then I load it into Gordian Knot and configure the Bitrate and Resolution panels and try to start a Compressibility Test. In the test panel, I figured out I should select the TomsMoComp deinterlace filter. The video now looks deinterlaced in the preview window. However I keep getting error -100 and Gordian Knot shuts down before running the test. Is that I'm doing right?

Thanks for your time and patience!

...I've rented....These may not be Hollywood productions, but these still can be defined as "Literary or Artistic Work" under the Berne Convention.

Rental violates our definition of Fair Use. Please see Piracy and Copyright in Doom9's Disclaimer (http://www.doom9.org/disclaimer.htm). As well, please see Forum Rule #6 -- a link is at the top of this page -- and also see the Announcement at the top page in this Newbies forum.
