Problem with A1 dvd ripper

When I tried to convert dvd to avi program displayed message "cannot open avi check that the directory exists and that the file is not used by another program". This program can only open dvd files (vob,ifo) NOT avi. Converting to vcd/svcd works fine with same DVD. What should I do?

Although I'm not personally familiar with the "A1 DVD ripper" software, it sounds like you may have been trying to create the .AVI file in a non-existent directory/folder - or overwrite an already-existing .AVI...

Yes, I know that, also this is not a problem only with A1 dvd ripper, other dvd rippers report same error, or just stop responding (and hard disc works as mad). This is probably problem with some dvd (ifo) imporing filter (becouse some programs report that the ifo doesn't exsist), or problem with saving an avi (becouse vcd/svcd works fine). Also enoding with Vdubmod works fine

Is it one specific DVD that is creating this problem? If so, what is the title and Region?

Have you ever successfully ripped a DVD, using this same system?

If yes, then perhaps some supporting files have been corrupted - or infected by a virus.

If your O/S is WinXP, after checking for infections, you might want to perform a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly...

No, I have tried other dvd-s, even the same that before have worked with a1 dvd ripper(and simmilar). Other way using dgmpgdec+avisynth+VDubMod works.
I also tried to use some dvd audio ripper(ImToo), and this program stopped responding, when I tried to import ifo. When I tried to import dvd root(from HD-decrypted DVD), program displayed "cannot find ifo", but the importing from DVD disc works fine.

Computer is clean (no spyware or virus). Unfortunatly I forgot to enable system restore, and now there is nothing I can do about it.

Do you suggest me to rename title of this tread to "problem with dvd ripping"?
