Forum Rules prohibit asking what's "best". Run some searches and see what others are using and getting good results with, but in the end, what's "best", is what's best for you. It's hard to find magic bullets. :)

AFAIK, the Verbatim DL discs are the most stable, but as far as your other questions, it's pretty much a matter of personal choice. You'll get input on these questions, and most of it solid, but ultimately, you've got to do the heavy lifting by yourself.

I've used a TDK single-layer burner for a couple of years, and since I've only used TDK media, I might be inclined to argue that it's the "best" for me, but never having used other brands of media, how would I know, for sure? Verbatim's might work just fine, but I've always caught TDK's on sale and stocked up. See what I mean?

You don't compress? Egads, what have you got, terrabytes of storage space? ;)

Sorry. I thought the rules pertained to discussing anything that violates copywrights or places the site in violation of that. I did read the forums and I assembled my best of from the results of that search. Why would I need terabytes of storage space for copying a DVD. And with DL costing 2 bucks a DVD I don't see why anyone would compress unless there equipment, like mine is finicky about DVD-9 discs. Which is why I am asking about players. Which from the forums posts it looks like the Sony DVP players are the way to go.

Currently, there are 17 rules, each one of them addressing a specific issue.

Storage space? The more the merrier...

I don't know what's best, but I can tell you what I use and am very satisfied. I recently bought a Phillips DVP 642 DVD player and love it. It plays everything I throw at it, including DL and is DivX certified. Cost at Best Buy was $65.00.

the admins should rethink that rule, if you do a search, you'll find that "what's best" threads are more joined than any other threads. why stop people from doing what the like best? just my opinion.

the admins should rethink that rule
That would be a topic more suitable for the Forum / Site Suggestions & Help sub-forum, but I serioulsy doubt that Doom9 is going to change that rule at this stage of the game.

To avoid any further confusion/conflict, I'll now close this thread per Rule 12.
