Version 2.0.15 seems to now support multithreaded avc encoding. mainoncept claims 4 threads (dualcore + hyperthreading) will make encoding faster by 25%
no idea if it does this via slices or via b-frames or differently...

Hmm...It seems that 25% improvement seems kind of conservative. With my X2 4600+, X264 can reach between 40% to 60% improvement depending upon the settings.
