1 movie, 2 different menus - how to swap the menu ?

Hey,
I have 2 different DVDs which are the same movie but have different menus.
In one, I have a French menu with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
In the second, I have a English menu but with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

How can I take the 16:9 movie and merge it with the English menu ?
Both menus are the same, the only difference is the writing.

Replace it with VobBlanker.

After I did it with VobBlanker the movie length jumed to 4:11:36 while the orignial legnth (in both DVDs) is 2:59:11.

This is what i've done: in VobBlanker I loaded the English DVD and in the TitleSet I choose VTS_01_.*.VOB (where the whole movie is). and in PGCs I selected: 01 Entry (the only one) that also showed the duration of 2:59:11.
Finally I preesed Replace and chooesed the VTS_01_0.IFO of the French DVD.

What have I done wrong ?

Seems you're doing the right things....
Are the DVDs multiangle or interleave?

If not, please zip the IFOs of both DVDs and send them to me. I'll take a look

Somebla, there's a guide on how to use the Replace function here (http://www.videohelp.com/~jsoto/guides/VobBlanker/adding_menus/) on jsoto's homepage (step 6-8 in the guide), but as jsoto said, it sure looks like you're doing it right.

There are some alternative methods:

1. Load the English DVD in PgcEdit and use the "Replace VTS" function to copy the French movie into the DVD.

Or:

2. Use Windows Explorer to copy replace the English main movie VTS with the French one (renumber the French main movie VTS in the filenames, if needed, to match the English one). Use IfoUpdate or BatchUpdateIFO to update the IFOs of the English DVD with the correct information about the main movie VTS from the French DVD.

Normally these two methods only work, if the main movie VTS only contains one PGC (with the main movie). However, in this particular case where it's the same movie (only two different regions) you may be lucky that DVD structure is the same so that they'll even work with multiple PGCs in the main movie VTS.

Unlike these two methods, VobBlanker's Replace function works on PGC level, and thus it usually is the safe choice as it should work no matter how the main movie VTS is structured...

jsoto, as far as I see they are not multiangle or interleave. sending you the IFOs.

CoNS, I did the as above (PGC, and Windows Explorer - IFO Update).
What happend is that after I press the 'play' in the menu the frame shrinks to 4:3 ratio. BUT if I play manualy one of the VOBS I see it in a 16:9 ratio.
It's like when I press 'play' the DVD is ordered to change the ratio to 4:3.

Any ideas ?

I got your IFOs.... Difficult to believe VB does not work, they are really simple...
So, or there is a bug related with NTSC (I do not have NTSC material...) or you are doing something wrong (but I cannot figure what is it)...

So please repeat the test, save the project file (Menu->File-> Save as) and save the log file, and send me both files.

BTW, about your last question: One VOB has inside the MPEG the AR codified. and the IFOs too. So you have a different AR in the VOBs and in the IFOs.
Change the AR in the IFOs with pgcEdit. Its very simple:
-Load the DVD folder.
-Right Click on VTST 1 TTN 1 Title 1, on the left pane, and select "Domain Styream Attributes".
- Select 16:9 and OK
- Save the DVD.

Anyway, I sended you the logs from VobBlanker.

And after I did as you said to do with PgcEdit the DVD is fine ! :)
The menu and the movie itself is in a 16:9 ratio.

Got your IFOs and logs

Seems (from the log) the cells are not correctly referenced in your replacing IFO.... Please check:
a) Run FixVTS on your replacing IFO,
or.
b) Create IFOs with IFOEdit on your replacing VOBs. To do this:
b.1.- Move all IFO, BUP files and menus (VIDEO_TS.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO) files to other folder
b.2.- Launch IFOEdit and click on Create IFOs and select your VTS_01_1.VOB
b.3.- Selct one chapter per cell and OK.
b.4.- When finish, select (in the upper part of IFOEDIT) any IFO and click on "Get VTS sectors"

Let me know if the problem is fixed.
