How do I determine if a captured (not by me) HR.HDTV avi (23.976 fps) is interlace or non-interlace. And if interlace, how do I determine the field order? Is there a progam out there or some method? I'm using TMPGEnc 2.524. Thanks

if it's 23.976 then it's not interlaced.

and if it's digital TV (esp. HD) then if it is interlaced it'll be top-field first (has anyone encountered a bottom-first clip capped off DVB? it's possible in theory but i doubt it ever happens)

Many, many thanks. So are you saying that a 29.976 fps avi capture is automatically interlace?

I found this at the following web site:
"The fact is that ABC, ESPN, and Fox broadcast in 720p, while CBS, NBC, HDNet and others use 1080i."

I have never captured any video so I'm totally clueless as to the method but the above statement would lead me to believe that HD captures from CBS and NBS would be interlaced.

What are your thoughts on this?
