good encoders

i want to know some good h.264 encoders. ive had bad experiences with main concept h.264. Can anyone give me a name of a good efficient encoder which can encode with high quality.

I think everyone here will agree that x264 is really good, and free. Furthermore, it has a few good frontends, like MeGUI, RealAnime and StaxRip, which all reside in this forum.

personally i use x264 from the command line (no GUI), but that shouldnt prevent you from using any of the x264 GUIs, or the nero encoder..

They all use x264 CLI :)

those (MeGUI, RealAnime, Stax) are GUIs, not encoders.

GUI = Graphical User Interface
CLI = Comand Line Interface

You can use only the cli with an bath file and avs script, but there are some GUIs that generate the comand line for x264 (that is the real encoder) and automatize many things. Try them out.

Download the standard version, it comes with MeGUI

MeGUI comes with the standard package, if you do not want to install any thing else, then use MeGUI-x264

Oh, you need "AVI synth" , I assumed you know how to use it...

What's best about RealAnime is it work out of the box and don't bother you with settings you don't have a clue about. Default settings are set for anime content though.

What's bad about it is it's not ment for DVD recompression, so it's worst than StaxRip.

Use your brain. Each program comes without its own distribution method:
StaxRip can download the programs for you
RealAnime comes in a package with everything you need (that's why Sirber said 'out of the box')
MeGUI can be downloaded as a package with everything you need except for AviSynth, which is linked to.

It's obvious enough with each of them what you need and where to get it. Stop being lazy and getting other people to do the work for you.

I second that...
and the reason is I am lazy.
Other reasons
one program to install and easy to use. Also Ateme's encoder is used, which has been at or near the top of doom9's Codec shootouts.
Con - Not FREE...
