In attempting to rip a region 1 movie on my hdd via my external dvd drive (NEC 3500ag) having 2.TG firmware, and,

I have Region Killer v2.7 installed in addition to the 2.TG firmware which is supposed to make the dvd region free, unless I misunderstand.

I received a message that since it was a region 1 movie and I had recently ripped a region 2 dvd on that drive, I was allowded only one more change of region.

I am concerned if I check 'OK', that is, change to region 1,
that my NEC dvd player/ burner will lock on me.

Any advice regarding placing this region 1 dvd in my external burner/ player and clicking okay to go to region 1, to rip will be appreciated.

Yet, when I place the dvd in my internal dvd-rom, I got no such message.
It is a Toshiba SDR2312 with X905 firmware (which makes it region free.)

Thanks,
Robert

What software are you using to rip? I have never seen ripping software check the region code...

Was using either DVD Shrink or Decrypter. Don't remember.

I do not recall ever having DVDecrypter care what region a source disk was. Were you trying to play the ripped files with a software player? I am not quite understanding... I have never had a warning or anything come up when I rip R2 discs that are not available where I live, I have to use this method before I got a region free DVD player for the house.

Cheers!
