Sharing good x264 720p encoding settings

Hey guys, I just started using StaxRip and doing x264 encodes but I am curious as to the "best" settings for a 1080i > 720p transcode. I have previously been using AutoGK for about a year now with my HD reocrdings and have had great success.

All my my clips are 1080i, ~14mbps area... the default StaxRip x264 settings seem to be alright but I would like to make the "best" encoding as possible. I mostly do 2 pass, 4300MB encodes.

Anyone mind sharing some details?

In MeGUI-x264 there's a "HQ-slowest" settings, I think that's the best settings for 2 pass

Download the standard edition of x264
see the HQ-slowest for reference and transfer the settings manually to StaxRip

This is the command line used for HQ-slowest
"x264.exe" --pass 2 --bitrate 1000 --stats ".stats" --ref 16 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --b-pyramid --b-rdo --bime --weightb --filter -2,-1 --subme 7 --trellis 1 --analyse all --8x8dct --me umh --progress --no-psnr --output "" ""


Normally, I use HQ-slow for "720x480" 750 kbps and the resulting quality is very good, I have no experience with 720p though

Sorry man, didn't even think it might be against the rules ;) I am just so novice with this new stuff I thought I would ask the pros.
