Hi,

I know the maximum bitrate spec. of a dvd is 9800 kbps. I always thought this was the bitrate of what is actually being played. So if I have a movie with a constant bitrate of 8200 and 2 PCM audio tracks (of 1536 kbps each) it would be OK (since you can only play one track at once keeping the total under 9800 kbps). But my dvd players plays a small part and then more or less freezes. When I let the dvd player show info it actually says the bitrate is 11000 kbps. Is this normal or should I be able to have as many audio tracks as I want as long as the total of the one being played plus video stays under 9800? I used dvd-lab pro to author.

All the audio tracks count toward the total bitrate. 9800 is just a rough estimate of the total, as it really is 10.08Mbps
including the overhead. A DVD compliant multiplexer should stop if the bitrate exceeds what a player can handle.

Well, that kind of sucks...
Thanks for the info and quick reply!
