encoding modes in 2 pass

I have a question about the DivX encoding mode in 2 pass. Should I use the same encoding mode (e.g. insane) in both passes or is it not a significant quality loss if I use the balanced mode for the first pass and a higher mode for the second?

Using Balanced on the 1st pass should be OK, if you go by DigitAl65K's advice :)

How do you encode 2 passes. I use Aoa DVD Ripper to make my avis and I am not satisfied with quality. It comes out good but not awesome!!!. Does the encoding in 2 pass mode make it way better?

There is a way to do the 2-pass again in the same video? I don't want a 3-pass, but a 2-pass with different quality setting to compare the first video with the second. Today I execute the 1-pass again to change the quality of 2-pass.

@ odjdiaz: First, 2pass encoding is much better qualitywise then 1 pass only. You can set that option at "encoding type" in the XviD configurations menu, just let it run with "two passes, first pass", then again with "two passes, second pass".
@ acpreso: I don't quite understand you. What do you mean with "first video" and "second video"?

I want compare different quality settings in DivX with 2-pass encode, but every time I do 2-pass I need the 1-pass first. In Xvid I do the 1-pass first and then repeat 2-pass with different settings to compare. There is a way to not repeat the 1-pass in DivX every time?

Hm, strange, I thought that would work with DivX, too...
Anyway, you can do your first pass and then save the files where DivX stores those informations (usually named statistics.xml and map.log). Do your second pass then, copy those saved files back and do a second one and so on.
