Another player that seems interesting :) Although butt-ugly, it seems competent. What makes it really interesting is their firmware update page (http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/support/FIRMWARE.aspx), which shows that it's a player with potential.

Don't get your hopes up too much guys....

The only difference between Sigma's EM8620L and EM8621L chip-sets is the latter does not incorporate MacroVision as standard :scared:

EDIT: Neither support MPEG-4/AVC or VC1

Cheers

EDIT: Neither support MPEG-4/AVC or VC1http://www.sigmadesigns.com/products/em8620Lseries.htm

it mentions both avc and vc-1. also the player handles wmv9, which is basically m$' implementation of vc-1

Here's a schematic of the EM8620L and EM8621L chip-set: -

The EM8622L and EM8624L chip-sets support MPEG-4 AVC and VC-1, but not the EM8620L and EM8621L chip-sets ;)

Why isn't anyone coming out with one that does AVC? Is the cost of the chip that much different?

When it comes to stand-alone players, I think it's fair to say the chip-sets these manufacturers like to use (Sigma, ESS, MediaTek and Zoran) are waiting to see what happens with Blu-ray and HD-DVD "disc" loaders!

When i comes to HDTV set-top boxes, over here in Euroland we'll start seeing combo MPEG-2/MPEG-4 AVC HDTV decoding chip-sets in set-top boxes in the next couple of months :D
