DL using PgcEdit getting errors.

I have several dl dvd's that are stored in the file format on my hard drive. I would like to burn these to dl dvd's but I am running into a problem when trying to play back these dvd's on my home machine.

I have tried using Nero to burn them but it seems like there is a problem with the layer break. I have read everything I could and have found that the PgcEdit should be the answer to my problems.

But I am getting an error.

1st Error message.
mkisofs returned the follwing error:
mkisofs: No such file or directory. Invalid Noe - -m

I believe this is a normal error that I should be able to click through. Something to do with the backup folders being stored in the video_ts directory.

When I click through this error I get the 2nd error.
"Error: Cannot find the first VMG sector."

I have searched all over the forums and I can't find anyone with this problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I am using PgcEdit 0.6.3beta4. I tried 0.6.2 and had the same problem.

I believe all the files stored on my hard drive are unedited from the original dvd's.

I have double checked and there is nothing extra in these folders.

Just the fact that you have these additional folders/directories (even if they're empty) included in the "VIDEO_TS" folder/directory could very well be the cause of your problem...

The "- -m" mkisofs bug is well known, and has been heavily discussed here.

It is sometimes caused by the presence of the PgcEdit_backup folders in the VIDEO_TS or in the root folder of the DVD. Try to remove all backup folders manually (when PgcEdit is already opened and the DVD loaded, or it will recreate a backup when you load the DVD.)

BTW, which version are you using? I have added a workaround for this bug in the latest beta (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/beta/PgcEdit_winexe_0.6.3beta5.zip). I'm not sure the workaround works on all systems, though.
You should also try to use the latest mkisofs (v 2.01 X) available with ImgTool Classic 0.91.7.

@setarip - PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) specifically excludes backup folders when making its ISO. You might like to experiment with the program to find out for yourself.

@jesseasi - seems like your main problems (cos you have bypassed the error message as per the "workaround") is a corrupt VIDEO_TS.IFO file, as it needs to find an identifier that says "DVDVIDEO-VMG" which identifies where the first sector starts.

It appears that my problem was caused because PgcEdit was not saved/installed in the right directory on my computer. I moved it from my M: drive (yes I have an M drive) to my C: drive and now it works find. My only problem is with playback now on my finished recordings. Seems like my dvd player is having a problem with the layer break.

If you can jump to a chapter or title on the second layer, it's certainly an hardware problem. You should use only Verbatim DL+Rs!

I have some Fuji's too, which are Ricoh...not too bad...not like Verbatim though

I have also noticed that this issue is manifesting regardless of the DVD root and VIDEO_TS folder content if the PgcEdit is not launched through the internally created shortcut.

Just wanted to iterate that strange thing can happen if you do not follow the instructions and try to cut the corners. The aforementioned issue was the result of my failure to follow the instructions and properly “install” the app.
