Hello all.

I'm new here, and I've searched the forum as far as I could, but I couldn't find the solution for my problem, and I am asking for help, or point to thread where I can find help, as it is possible that I missed it.

I had clean installation of windows XP SP2, a mpeg2 file with videoclips ripped from VHS, and Media Player Classic. The picture in MPC was perfect as far as VHS rip can be, no artifacts. And then I installed for testing purposes MainConcept mpeg encoder, tried some avi>mpeg2 encoding, and uninstalled it.
Since then, I have lousy picture from that mpeg2 file in MPC, with visible artifacts all the time, also bad picture from DVD. When I open that file in vdubmod, the picture is perfect.

I would like to restore the original settings, and original decoders, but I don't have the knowledge what to do.

Please help.

H.

Hi!

Perform a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly...

I can't; I'm in the domain, and by policy system restore is turned off.

This can happen when graphic overlays get messed up. What type of Video card are you using? And do you have proper rights to alter display settings and/or install new device drivers?

Cheers!

I have admin rights for almost everything, except some system settings turned off for security, like system restore. Graphic card drivers are OK, reinstalled and tested. It's not graphic card drivers problem. It's mpeg2 decoder.
