It seems that you ran the xvid uninstaller which was included in my build until 31st of december, 8:30 a.m. MET. Which I posted here is a bad thing to do together with a fix (re-read forum rule 1: use the search! it's in the xvid-1.1-final thread); which I posted at my site that it's a bad thing to do.

You can try this though: http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/How_to_install_default_codecs_in_Windows_XP_2000.htm

Cheers

great thx to koepi~
I had red this for several times

I apologize for the mess. The new installer (8:30a.m. middle european time) doesn't kill all your codec entries on uninstall anymore. If you downloaded my build before, please download the new installer and just run it; this will overwrite the faulty uninstaller.

but I didnt fully understand your words......what a fool I am!

thx
jeff

My codecs !!!

So it was the xvid installer.... ok, it does not matter, i just use FFDSHOW.
A reinstallation fixed my problem, but thanks for the fix.

Hy Koepi, can you please advise exactly which registry keys are deleted?

So far I've recovered:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc

and things look like they're getting back to normal, but have I missed anything?

Thanks.

Dom.

yeah, hi Koepi

can you also confirm for me which reg keys get blitzed
I too have recovered the above 2 keys from a previous reg-dump from a month ago

btw, I installed the new installer overtop of the previous version, but the uninstall still corrupted my reg

I've subsequently tried to re-install and uninstall and the reg keys were unscathed - I'm not sure the over-the-top-install made use of the new uninstaller the first time round for some reason...
