What would be my savest bet for buying a new PC and be sure it encodes at the speed of light.
What i mean is, is it still better to buy an Intel processor like it use to be, or has AMD closed the gap allready.
Is it also worth buying a dualcore, or isnt it cost effective ? And also, does it help to have lots of fast memory and fast hard discs ?

Now it takes like 7 hours to do a 2-pass encode with CCE, and during that time i cant do anything else. Running it will i sleep isnt an option, because my current PC has the same noise level as a jetfighter :eek:

Firstly, this is the wrong section of the forum to ask such questions. Secondly, please observe our forum rules... particularly rule 12.

yeah, i noticed i made this in the wrong section.
About rule 12, i read that one, and its about "whats best"
Actually i just wanted to hear from a users point of view if intel is still the fastest way of converting mediafiles, or dualcores have a bigger advantage.
I didnt wanted to make it a intel-amd war like always, but it was more asking advice about it, because this forum comes highly rated for me.

@Teebeeke
I recommend dual core CPU (some codecs are already optimized for dual core, like Xvid, x264...)
