View Full Version : 2:3 pulldown on a subtitled MPEG

I've been working on a script which automatically transforms ogm and avi files into dvd compliant mpeg streams; and i've had quite some progress. However, this time i encoded a 23.976fps film for the first time (with the script, done it before manually); and found out i didn't pulldown the video quite a bit late :eek: .
I now have an _almost_ DVD compliant MPEG, complete with two audio tracks and 1 subtitle track, but at 23:976 fps. Is it possible to do a 2:3 pulldown in the mpeg stream? or does anyone know some tools or something to de- and remux the streams correctly?
Kind regards,

Is it possible to do a 2:3 pulldown in the mpeg stream?Hi!
You should be able to accomplish this using "TMPGEnc". Look under the "Advanced" tab for "3:2 Pulldown" (Convert 23.976fps to 30fps)

I wouldn't pulldown in TMPGEnc., as there is a risk of audio going out of sync with the vid.
Try DGPulldown by Donald Graft :)

@nidoranz
Just to let you know that I've never experienced TMPGEnc causing audio video synchronization problems when using its 3:2 pulldown filter...

thanks for your reply; however, there is a small problem with the solutions; TMPGEnc. requires me to encode the video itself. this is a problem because i don't have the source video anymore; so i still have to take out and reinsert the video. Pulldown has same problem; i can pulldown on a video stream (m2v), but not on a mpeg stream (mpg). The problem is i can't get the video out and reconstruct the mpeg with both audio tracks and the subpicture track; more precisely, i can't get the second audio track out yet, as well as the subpicture track

because i don't have the source video anymore...
If you're no longer in possession of the source, we can't help you. Look to the Announcement at the top of the Newbies page.
