Can anybody explain the difference between H263 and H263+? I didn't use DivX since version 5.03 and the H263+ mode not existed yet.

H.263 optimized quantization uses rate distortion optimization and will yield better PSNR and visual quality at higher quantizers/lower bitrates.

What exactly is low bitrate? My videos have this setting:

Anime TV Series
640x480 resolution
23.976fps
25 minutes each episode
175Mbytes per file.
near 800 kbps bitrate.

In this case can I consider a low bitrate?

No, low bitrate is any value under 500 kbps.

I've noticed that H.263 optimized is nearly 45% slower than plain H.263. Honestly I can't imagine that it's worth that speed difference for the quality delta. I can't tell the difference.

We're talking 80+fps vs. 45-50fps on my dual Opteron.
