I encoded one of my DVD movies using Avi.net and divx 6.1 codec.
The output was not as good as I expected. What is the recommended setting for this program. Any experiences to share abt this software.

This appln has a setting for deinterlace interlaced source. I did not enable that option. Could that be the reason.

for a 90 minutes dvd your divx final size "should" be at least 900 megs, for a 120 minutes dvd you "should" select a size of 1200 megs and so on ......

if your dvd is lets say 2 hours long and your final size is 700 megs dont expect much quality.

as for deinterlace open your vob files with dgindex and play it for a bit and look at the stats window if it says interlaced you have to deinterlace, if it says progressive dont deinterlace, for a much wiser decision lokk at the video played by dgindex if you see "jagged lines" its interlaced video if you dont is progressive.

Can you use GSPOT and give us the data from it. We can tell from the FPS and qf to give you recommendations. qf should be > .22 for a fair picture and .25 for a good picture (IMHO).
