View Full Version : MVBob to perform slow-motion?

Hello
I was thinking if MVBob could to take out each of the fields in 25i material so it would be 50 fps (a 50% slowmo).
Since it is such a great Deinterlacer I think the images would look much better than if I did it with for example Adobe Premiere.
Is this possible?

well, it outputs twice the number of frames, so all you need do is go:
assumefps(25,true)

Thanks! Does MVBob use both fields and then discard one of them when it deinterlaces?

mvbob does'nt discard anything. it outputs 50 fps progressive.
if you do a slowdown to 25 fps, you'll effectively double the duration of your video.

hmmm, let me get this straight. If my source is 25 fps interlaced, one frame contains two fields(kinda like a fake 50 fps). When I DeInterlace it I thought one frame has to be discarded in order to get an output of 25 progressive frames per second instead of 50 progressive frames. I understand if putting: assumefps(25,true) in the script the output is 50 frames progressive, meaning that MVBob deinterlaces both fields and uses them as separate frames. Is that right?
I hope I didnt described it too confusing :)

Thats exactly what every full-rate or Bob deinterlacer does like LeakKernelBob, AviSynth's internel bob or TDeint in mode 1 etc. The difference between them all is quality / speed.
