Are there any free/shareware tools available to convert .rm video files to AVI files using the XviD codec? Thanks!

Sorry, but I'm a total newbie to all this. The most I've ever done is use DVD2SVCD to burn a couple of AVIs.

ok. you need to download Virtual Dub Mod, then make an avisynth script:
DirectShowSource("your_file.rmvb", [FPS])where FPS is the source FPS.
Then you open the .AVS with VDub.
Then you compress it to XviD (and MP3?).

You also need to install AviSynth of course.. :)

Since you've tried StaxRip already you could just right-click on the source filter and select DirectShowSource, this filter was reported to cause problems sometimes and please don't ask me how to deal with the audio, I don't know.

Thanks for the help!
Does this account for the fact that RM has VBR? When I specify the framerate as 30 (which I encoded it as), there's a slight audio desync.
