5.7.1.1, 2006 01 01

- Happy new year from SlySoft!
- Important: When installing this version over an existing
installation, you must reboot your machine. Otherwise the changes
made in the AnyDVD device driver will not have any effect!
- New: Improved the function remove unreferenced VOBUs. This fixes
problems with some titles, e.g. "Unstoppable" R2 (German).
- New: Error zones on RipGuard/Arccos/PuppetLock protected titles are
now replaced with "valid material". 3rd party tools like DVDDecrypter
will now work better (no more "Pack Header Error" messages).
- New: Better support of elby CloneDVD2 when copying Arccos or
RipGuard protected titles without Menus:
Eliminates "hang" on standalone DVD Player and Audio "out of sync"
problems.

In case any of you use AnyDVD. It now supports using DVD Shrink directly with AnyDVD on Ripguard titles without having to mess with Vob Blanker or FixVTS.

Yup, they are. But you first have to rip to the hard drive to use them. Using the latest AnyDVD you should not have to do that.

I find that this process allows you to rip any DVD (no pun intended) easily to the hard drive (for free). Try it! The wizard makes it a breeze.

How to backup ARccOS DVDs (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56831).

Hey M8, I think you mean 5.7.2.1

SamuriHL

Indeed. They released a new version to remove a corrupt language pack. No functionality has been changed, however.

Since 5.7.1.1 I have had issues with Sernenity, but if I shut it off Decrypter has no issues with it. I hope 5.7.2.1 fixes it. It's the only DVD that has this issue so far. It rips no problem, but when I go to import the ISO into anything I get a structure error.

Shutting it off and ripping with just Decrypter and the backup is fine.

Well that's no good! Can you drag the VIDEO_TS folder to the hard drive with just AnyDVD active? IOW, try using it without DVD Decrypter and see if you still have the same problem. I realize you said you've already done it with Decrypter and that's kuel, but, I'm just curious if you can rip it directly with AnyDVD by copying the contents to the hard drive. Thanks!

More info on this.
After installing 5.7.2.1. I get the same error.
The error actually states "Invalid DVD navigation structure".
This is accessing the disc directly by Shrink.
In the info screen of AnyDVD it states "Found & removed invalid VOBUs!"
I have a feeling this is the cause.
If I uncheck "copy protection based on unreadable sectors" in the setup screen
it works fine and I have no issues making a movie only backup.

Might be another issue of seeing something that isn't there as a previous version did on Star Wars.

I have only seen this on the R1 movie Serenity.

Interesting. Yes, I remember when it detected a protection on star wars that wasn't there. It's entirely possible that this is a similar situation. I don't have that movie(probably never will...I'm boycotting it for personal reasons) so I can't test it. Maybe email the guys at slysoft and let them know.

hi guys ..

i recently got a non-english dvd .. trying to copy it but cudnt .. dvd-drive simply goes crazy whereas it plays perfect on my dvd-player .. so i ruled out bad-disk issue ..

now dvd-decrypter 3.5.4.0 gives me possible structure protection error .. so tried pgc-edit with ArcOS Plugin .. that dint help either .. so dnld'd AnyDVD 5.7.2.1 & CloneDVD2 2.8.5.1 .. but the same results .. unable to decrypt beyond halfway thru the movie even though slysoft guys claimed to have busted all protections ..

its definitly not a case of bad-disk since it plays perfect on my dvd-player without even the slightest jerk ...now its not a case of bad drive either since i checked it on 4 drives & 3 seperate systems ..

now im not even sure whether its ArcOsS protections as the files i cant copy happen to be VTS_02_04.VOB & VTS_02_05.VOB ..

any help ?? atleast howto findout out what protection its using & atleast backup the dvd to my hdd ..

@qwprince

Hi!

1) What is the title and region of the DVD? What is the region of your burner/DVD-ROM?

2)its definitly not a case of bad-disk since it plays perfect on my dvd-player without even the slightest jerk ...
The fact that it plays on a standalone DVD player doesn't mean that it can't be physically damaged. Good standalone DVD players have the capacity to adjust (to some extent) for physical problems while, on the other hand, (good) ripping software attempts to read every single bit of data.

Try cleaning the disc. If that doesn't resolve your proble, return the DVD to the place of purchase in exchange for a replacement...

Title name - Ghajini; Format-16x9 Anamorphic Widescreen; RunTime-167mins; Audtio-AC35.1,DTS; Region-ALL REGIONS NTSC;
IMDB Listing-http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449951/

i use 2 regions on my dvd-roms - region1, 2

its a brand new original disk .. i myself broke the plastic wrapping on it .. and it definitly has no scratches on it ..

tried a replacement already .. the sales fem was kind enuf to let me do that .. :) .. the same result ..

thanx for the quick reply .. & ive attached the dvd -decrypter logfile ..

PS: if it was a case of dvd app trying to be perfect with bit reading .. how come its begins at a certain critical point in the first file(VTS_02_04.VOB ) .. where the music begins & stops exactly in the last chapter of the second file(VTS_02_05.VOB)

1) Looks like we'll have to wait for your "DVDDecrypter.txt" file to be approved for viewing.

2) In the meanwhile, despite the reference to "Possible Structure Protection" information notice (It's NOT an error message), did DVD Decrypter successfully rip the entire DVD?

3) I was not saying that your DVD was definitely damaged. Rather, I was simply pointing out that, despite the fact it played properly on a standalone DVD player, it was still possible that the disc could be physically damaged...

Have you tried using Freeware DVDFab Decrypter Located Here? (http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm)

Have you tried using Freeware DVDFab Decrypter Located Here? (http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm)yes i definetly tried dvd-fab express .. but got stuck ... again..
others used include nero recode,DVDRegionFree+CSS,DVDDecrypter
with PgcEdit .. etc ..

ok .. ive been trying out all possible stunts i read of structure
protection posts on doom forum ... but havnt helped much... [mebe im reading it wrong .. hmm]

I was not saying that your DVD was definitely damaged. Rather, I was simply pointing out that ... no offence chief .. i was just hyperactive & a bit frustrated at this dvd ...

It's possible it was badly manufactured, as well. Entire batches of discs get screwed with mastering errors that play fine in stand alone players but cause rippers all kinds of problems. That's what we get when they farm out manufacturing of discs to the cheapest Chinese factory they can find. :) I wouldn't rule out a mastering error on this one.

Hey! I didn't say what is in that quote above.
This is what is in MY post below.
Have you tried using Freeware DVDFab Decrypter Located Here?
BTW the link I posted is for DVDFab Decrypter...it is not the same app. as you indicated.

To much Holiday Cheer will affect your vision! ;) :p:)

Looking at your DVDD link I see this...

Source Media Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Source Media Copyright Protection System Type: None

Are you running AnyDVD or DVD43 @ the same time as DVDD?

@qwprince

With NO OTHER software running, try ripping the DVD using ONLY DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (Select "ALL" files, NOT "movie" files). Then post your log here...

I ripped all the possible files once again(@4X Speed) withut any extra apps running in the bg .. (even though thats what i did the very first time i tried to rip)
i cudnt refuse since the one with the force commanded .. :) .. I had to skip ripping the 2 files VTS_02_4.VOB & VTS_02_5.VOB since it just kept going on & on with sector read errors ..

Hey! I didn't say what is in that quote above... I'll blame my Ctrl+V for not being smart enuf .. :D ..

& yes what i tried was DVDFab Express .. (infact i dnld one more ystrday the release date was Dec 28) .. & no i was not running DVD43 & AnyDVD at the same time .. [btw i did try that as well :)]

Im including the new DVDD Log File as well as the IFO's (if thats going to help)
DVDDecrypterLog.log (http://www.qwprince.com/temp/DVDDecrypter030106.txt)
IFO Files.rar (http://www.qwprince.com/temp/GHAJINI_IFO.rar)

this dvd is really annoyin' ..

Since the DVD appears to have no copy protection, try using Windows Explorer to simply "drag and drop" the "VIDEO_TS" folder and all of its contents to your hard drive...

Guys, AnyDVD 5.7.3.1 is out and has fixed a crapload of errors with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. I suggest giving it a try and seeing if that fixes any of the issues for you.

@ SamuriHL -
5.7.3.1 was the one i tried ... i dnld AnyDVD only after i got this issue ..

@ setarip_old -
did try drag n drop as well .. din work out ...

i think i'll have to go with the mastering error story ... it just annoys me seeing it work perfectly on the standalone player - (my standalone is just a normal LG Player which jerks if theres a good dvd scratch .. no super-powers like philips or anythin') ...

Snikes. Can you do me a favor and send those IFOs to slysoft support, put the title and region in the subject, and paste the AnyDVD info window in the body of the email? I'm sure this is something James at slysoft will want to look at. Those guys are great when it comes to this stuff. He can at least confirm whether it's a new protection or not and if it is he'll update AnyDVD to take care of it. I'd not rule out a mastering error, either, but, let's not take any chances and get slysoft to confirm this is not a new protection. Thanks!!
