I just bought a brand new HP Media Center PC- m7250n. The DVD drive- HP DVD Writer 840b HI86 (as per driveinfo's findings) doesn't recognize some store bought original dvd's. Does anyone have any experience with this particular drive? Or know if there is updated firmware or something that I need to get?

Hey, I have a 10 month old Hp computer with a 640 dvd drive, I already updated the firmware, it didn't help. Its only happened about 10 times, but what I ususally do(I know it sounds strange) is just keep opening the drive door and spining the disc in dofferent directions, most of the time that works, eventually it will open. I just had that problem with "the Cave" topok about 6 different directions, but it finally opened. Thats why I purchased an external Plextor, because there are some conflicts between the HP drive & some burning progrmas I like.:o

doesn't recognize some store bought original dvd'sHi!
Unless they are from a different Region, the system should recognize them. Itherwise, I'd suggest you return the system in exchange for a new replacement system...
