Are changes a same in Koepi's build?
Any additional optimizations for AMD64, etc.?

1.1final is 1.1final. If you change it then it isn't 1.1 final any more.

Compiled with ICL9.

the new xvid decoder is noticably slower than the new divx one, with the same settings
ie no post processing stuff etc

especially on HDTV content. As always tho the encoder rocks .. nice to have some home theatre profiles too :)

Hello,

A version experimental of the codec xvid: XVID 1.2
Changelog to XviD-1.1:
- {xvidcore} Experimental SMP support (2 threads hardcoded).
Patch for P- and B-frames from sysKin applied by hand.
- {xvidcore} Trellis improvements (according to sysKin).
- {xvidcore} Bumped bitstream version to 42, you never know (41 is XviD-1.1.0-final).
Download:http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml

What's the big difference between those two versions?
I speak in term of quality and not speed.

trellis improvement -> better quality (metric sense)

@Sagittaire
:thanks:
You say true, but this experimental version is unstable.

I have installed v1.1 final of Xvid over the previous beta and test with 2 1cd dvd conversion with GordianKnot (2 pass). But the result is that the two resulted avi have the end (20-30 minutes) encoded poorly (bad quality). It is the first time that happen something like this and the other part of the avi are good quality! Is this a known bug or it is something new? What I can do?
Today I uninstall the final xvid 1.1 and reinstall the beta and retest with same movies...

Maybe you had zone-settings still activated (i.e. for credits). Or your stats-file got truncated. Or your first pass crashed. OR: _you didn't hit "load defaults" after installing 1.1!_ -- you need to do that, definatly!

Please do the tests with vdub on your own, thus eleminating problems with gknot.

Cheers

This is probably a stupid question.

Am I supposed to uninstall the old XVID program (ie the beta version) before I install the new Koepi binary XVID program?

Or do I just install Koepi's binary on top of the beta program?

Thanks for answering.

But now when I go to Koepi's site

http://www.koepi.org/

to get the XVID binary, it asks me for a password.

Is this new?

Do I have to register at his site (somehow?) before I can access it?

Just tried here.... and I don't get asked for a password.
