I just purchased a HTPC bundle that comes with an ATI RADEON X600SE (it's being shipped, won't get it for a week). I have to buy a Component video cable to get HDTV output. The manual says to set the display at 640x480 and enable either 30Hz or 60Hz. My question is that if I'm setting the resolution to 640x480, how can this be "HDTV"? I have tons of captured HDTV programs and it seems that the movies are going to be limited to 640x480?

Anyone have experience with this sort of setup?

you have to enable "1080i" or "720p" in the drivers and use DVI out. 640x480 might be for standard S-Video.

In any case, your HDTV should handle most resolution you shoot at it. my friend (nvidia) is in clone (1024x768) mode then when it diaplay a video (theater mode) it goes 1080i.

Gotcha, all of my encodes are resized to 720p from HDTV source and just want to make sure I'm not going to get stuck with crappy tv out. Thanks for the info!
