I haven't seen this problem until recently and I'm baffled. I also am not exactly sure when it started other than maybe at most 3 months ago. When I go to play dvd backups on my stand alone player, xbox, 360 the video will start to play broken/jerky after it gets so far into the disc.

I normally rip with dvd decrypter, transcode with elbysofts clonedvd2, and burn the files with roxio's easy media suite 8. I've mixed it up to try to isolate the problem, rip with dvdfab decrypter, transcode with dvdshrink, burn with clonedvd2. I've done different combinations of the problem. when I used dvdshrink to transcode 2 discs worked fine but when I got to third disc I watched it jerked.

At this point I decide to re-rip the back to hard drive with dvd decrypter/dvdfab decrypter. After I re-rip the already transcoded files back to hard drive the video plays flawless in media player.

I've had for example Fantastic 4, 2 discs of Nip/Tuck season 1 play fine, but Dukes of Hazzard Unrated, some Nip/Tuck season 1 discs play broken.

I'm not exactly sure what could be causing this problem. I'm beginning to think it has to do with something that roxi's easy media center 8 may have done when I installed it. Everything seemed to be working fine when I was using version 7 to burn dvds. Any ideas would be appreciated.

btw I've been using the same type of media (ritek G04) for a while now and don't believe it's the problem. They've worked fine in the past.

Hi!

1) Try uninstalling v.8 and reinstalling v.7

2) Try a new batch of media

I'm going to try #1 when I get home from work. It just didn't dawn on me till I started typing this that maybe it was roxio 8 install. I distinctly remember it not having problems like this with roxio 7.

tried another one after taking out roxio 8 and putting roxio 7 back in. still played broken/jerky like the last 10 minutes of Nip/Tuck S2D4 the last episode. I just don't know what it could be, because if I rip the dvd-r to computer hard drive the vob's play just fine with no issues.

Despite your previous success with the Ritek G04 media, you might want to try different, high quality media and burn at a lower speed...

I must concur with setarip. Ritek is not one of the best media sources around. I have been using Taiyo Yudens for all my burns, and the only time I had the problem you're describing is burning above the rated speed of the media (8X)

Let us know,

BTW, ripping to the HDD, and burning to the media, isn't going to yeild the same results. If everything is OK with the burn, then the problem is in the rip. :D
