Hey all...

So as you see from my specs I recently got an upgrade and one of the new features my board has is Optical and Coaxial S/PDIF. I have installed the latest drivers from Realtek.

I have a PS2 hooked into my video card's S-Video input, and that works fine in media player classic. Today I connected an optical cable between the PS2 and the motherboard. I have tried unmuting the spdif in the windows mixer, but still get no sound. the realtek control panel only has items about s/pdif out.

does anyone know how to or if its even possible to do spdif in with the alc850?

Thanks...

I believe it's because the 2 SPDIF connections are outputs, not inputs. I have an ASUS nForce4 SLI motherboard in this is the case with mine (just outputs). I did a quick google on the ECS KN1's specs and saw 2 SPDIF outputs but no inputs. You'll likely have to add a soundcard with SPDIF ins.
