Use GMC in DiVx 6.1 for standalone player

Hi folk!
Recently I tested DiVx test CD on Pioneer DV-585A. Player play ok avi file with GMC test, but when I try make my own file with DiVx 6.1 unconstrained profile, B frame, GMC and MPEG-2 matrice, file freeze from begin. After I use mpeg4modifier and unpack stream, file play on player but only some second and latter jerky movement. I use default setting for VBV. May be need change this parameter? With Qpel no problem with packed stream. Please advise. Combined use GMC and Qpel freeze player totaly. Interlaced video O'k.

You should not use Unconstrained mode when encoding for DivX Certified Home Theater profile devices. Use the Home Theater profile, otherwise you are likely to choose a bunch of features the device doesn't necessarily support, which is exactly what you are doing here.

Even if you were to find settings in Unconstrained mode that worked on your DVD player they might not work on a different model.

I agree. The certified profiles are there for a reason. Use insane speed and/or higher bitrates. You don't have to turn on everything just because its there otherwise you hit problems. Even if your DVD player today works fine with one of the extra features your next DVD player may not. Use multipass encoding, speed the time to encode and the result will look great.

If I choose Home profile, Insane and 4000kb/s my standalone player skips, drops frames etc. My PC plays back the .avi fine.

And I breaking the Certification profiles or is my standalone Samsung v540 player a piece of junk ?

On the divx site, I can't find a guide that clearly explains what a Home Certified profile consists of (eg: max 1100kb/s, 128kb/s mp3 sound etc) and the Guides/How to link is broken.

PS - I neither understand nor care about GMC, quarter pixels or the other stuff. I just want the highest quality .avi achievable that my standalone v540 will play without having to work hard for it.
