Hey all,

I'm checking out the trial version of CCE 2.7 and am trying to use it with DVD-RB. I set the CCE options to CCE SP Trial, and I also tried CCE SP, and I keep getting an error message that this version is not supported with DVD-RB 1.04. Am I doing something wrong, because I thought I had read that it was supported. If not, does 1.05 support CCE 2.7?

Thanks,
Justin

It supports v2.70. I don't know where that error message could be coming from... DVD Rebuilder has no message like that. What exactly does it say?

I highly recommend you upgrade to v1.05.1

Hello,

I got it to work...I had to set it to "SP trial" in order to get it to encode. I used 7 pass VBR because I have noticed that it seems to be a fairly common amount of passes for DVD rips I've seen. I'm using the SP 2.7 trial.

I came out with lousy quality (I was looking at the M2V files in the DVD2AVS folder because the rebuild didn't finish, see a couple paragraphs down) The video was very noisy and blocky, almost looked like it could've come from DVD Shrink. I'm copying full movie mode and keeping all extras but ripping foreign audio and subtitles. Movie bitrate ends up being around 2,667 kbps.

I tried it with Canopus Procoder 2 with 2 pass VBR and the results, though not perfect, were MUCH better. Much less noise and when viewed from a normal viewing distance (I guess about 10' from a 27" TV) I cannot tell the difference between the original and the backup.

I also got an "Error 76: Path not found" before the rebuild process could complete with CCE. Any idea what could cause that error? I have the program set to "one click backup"

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Justin

CCE is not that bad. So the difference must be somwhere else.

Also if you use CCE ESPECIALLY AT LOWER AVERAGE BITRATE, use MINBITRATE=0 setting in rebuilder.INI. Otherwise 500 bits/sec is wasted overall and will get you in trouble.

I've have done a lot of different tests and trying to believe anybodies expereinces, but CCE still came out the best for me.

Although I have to admit, that if I see a bitrate average of 2.6 Kbps, I just give up and even don't try it, unless it's not a real movie.

If you pretend to get 'not noticable' difference at 2.6 Kbps average, you sure have a special movie.....or can do magic I can't. Whatever encoder I use.

Just for clearity sake: If the difference is not noticable, why are commercial DVD's using MUCH MUCH higher average bitrates ?????

Why do they put special editions on the market consisting of 2 DVD's ???

If 2.7Kbps average would do, they put 6 hours easily on one DVD9. Wishfull thinking...

It's the same ... (sorry) as to do 7 passes.

Procoder just uses 2 passes.

3 passes (total, inclusing VAF) are enough for CCE SP.

JDOBBS even considers 2 passes enough as he recommends CCE BASIC which can't do more.

And the setup for 2.70.2.0 (and prob. other 2.70 versions):

1) DO NOT use ECLCCE, but point to the executable of CCE directly)
2) Setup with 'run encoders minimized'
3) Setup CCE TRIAL

Then you can run youre CCE TRIAL SPECIAL EDITION :)

Are do you have standard CCE TRIAL ????

No wonder the picture is so bad, it's the Cinemacraft LOGO you see... :) :)

I'm using the CCE SP 2.7 trial. I'm still getting the runtime error 76 "path not found" anytime I try to use CCE. I have no problems with procoder. Anyone have an idea what's causing the "path not found" error, and what I can do to resolve it? Please help! :)

Also, apfraats, the difference in quality between the original and the compressed is noticeable, but it's not THAT bad, it still looks really good, and when looking at it from normal viewing distance, I don't notice a huge difference between the original and the backup. If I look up close however, then I'd see the noise or some blockiness that results from encoding at a high compression rate (I'm backing up my copy of the "40 Year Old Virgin" while keeping all extras and removing foreign audio and subtitles), compression rate of around 51 %.

Basically, I'm trying to get the best possible results from CCE, but I can't even get it to work properly because of that damn "path not found" error. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Justin

Could you please post your REBUILDER.INI file? That error is one that normally only happens when you select a path to isn't persistent such as a network or mounted drive that then becomes inaccessible.

Yep, so it be.

Use setup to point to youre CCTSPT.EXE file.

Put it in the SAME directory were DVD-RB is.

Use TRIAL setup for CCE.

Don't use ECLCCE !

Put it in the SAME directory were DVD-RB is.
no need, see the paths that i use for 4 cce versions and all works:

C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder SP\EclCCE.exe (eclcce call cctsp.exe 2.50) adjust to cce sp(v2.50)

C:\Arquivos de programas\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\EclCCE.exe (eclcce call cctspt.exe 266)adjust to cce sp trial

C:\Arquivos de programas\Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.7\27002\cctspt.exe (adjust to cce sp trial)

C:\Arquivos de programas\Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.7\2700204\cctspt.exe (adjust to cce sp trial)

one EclCCE.exe used for each trial or full version(older than 2.70)
Use TRIAL setup for CCE when trial(cctspt) but adjust path to eclcce if older than 270xx

Do you have the four different versions simultaneously installed on the same machine?
