Hi,

just want to share what I got working, after trying some one-click solutions which didn't really fit my taste (I like to think I'm in control ;)). In case you have anything to add, clarify or fix just post it and I'll add it to this post. Thanks!

Install GordianKnot.RipPack.0.35.0.Setup.2.exe (check VDubMod, AviSynthPlugins, DGMPGDEC, Robot4Rip), BeLight-0.22b8.exe (check all just to be sure you got what you need), latest mp4UI, DVDDecrypter, xvid 1.0.3 and avisynth 2.5.6.

Setup r4r according to the doom9 guide. For the audio part use this:
-core( -input "%input%" -output "%output%" -logfile "%log%" ) -ota( -d %delay% ) -azid( -c none -s stereo ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_FAAC.dll -q 100 -w --obj-type LC --mpeg-vers 4 )
Start r4r and let it roll. Afterwards load the .d2v into GordianKnot. Crop, resize (width < 480), maybe deinterlace and save the avs.
Open it up in VDubMod. Set video to "fast recompress". Configure xvid. Mind you that the iPod Video only supports "mpeg-4 simple profile". Use "Simple @ L3" as a template (no worries about width, height, fps and bitrate limits, the codec will use your choosings anyway). Afterwards let VDubMod do it's job (see the doom9 xvid guide for details if you're wondering).
Open up the .m4 aac audio file in mp4UI. Then hit "Import" and load the avi that VDubMod produced. When it's done hit "Close". The .mp4 that formerly just inherited the audio part of your work should by now also inherit the video.
Load it up into your iPod and show off a little ;)

Cheers

P.S.: You might experience a blurry video in high motion/bitrate scenes (watching it on the iPod). In that case just make sure the battery is not nearly empty.

Anyone knows why r4r has LPCM tracks greyed out? It's the only audio track so I seem to be unable to rip the disc.

Thanks

Hi micmac,

While your information might be useful...... Please bear in mind that this particular section of the forum is not intended to discuss and/or share information about how to "generate encodes" for use with video capable iPod's!
