Hi!

What is the brand, manufacturer's ID, and speed rating of the media you are now using?

Are you using a new batch of media for the first time?

What burning software are you using?

brand is maxdata

manufacturer's id is gsc003

speed rating is 1-8x but all burning softwares report 4 as the slowest

no it's not a new batch it was the last 10 disc of a 50 spindal and the 40 before were fine

burning software was imgburn the new one v 1.1

Burn one, show us the log, show us the write speed graph (exported from ImgBurn to DVDInfoPro).

Either your drive is doing some very heavy WOPC stuff or you have DMA issues.

Using some decent 'known' media might be an idea too. i.e. TY, MCC etc.

umm just did some more with a new type of disc and all was good to i opened up rs to start playing again while burning then stright away the speed died buffer is still fine though.... checked dma and it's still enabled "ultra dma mode 4" only thing i can think of which is probably the problem i had the drive out in another system and changed it to slave while in other system and when i put back into mine i put it on cable select think it was on master before so maybe it being on cable select is the issue it's the only drive on the cable hell it's the only pata drive hdd is sata

Hard to tell how your system is configured.

If you try and access another IDE device on the same chain as your burner, the speed will suffer.

Always try to have the hdd with the image on one channel and the burner on the other.

Avoid using CS at all. Always use Master or Slave.

Try uninstalling your main IDE controller entry within Device Manager and reboot when prompted.
Regardless of what it quotes for DMA values, they're not always what's actually being used - blame some bug in Windows.

Your buffers should always be on 100%. If they're not, you have problems.

as i said earlier the drive is on it's own cable there arn't any other devices to access at the same time dvd rom is the only device thats even on a pata cable and it's not cs i was accessing i wouldn't play something that full on it was rs (runescape) it's a web page based thing runs thru a java applet but i'll try uninstalling the controller like you said though

I meant cable select (cs), not counter strike ;)
