I'm using DVD-RB Pro 1.05.1 and I noticed that with HC Encoder 0.16A and film sources I am still getting the GOP set to 12-2. Is this normal? I even replaced hcbatch.exe with the final version of 0.16 available in the download section of doom9.org, but I noticed the same thing. Mind you the source I am encoding is a TV show, but it's a new release (alias season 4) and it *should* be detecting it as film. Is there any problems with the GOP set at 12-2?

J-Wo I asked this question recently (do a search on 12-2 and autogop) and was referred to several threads where it was discussed that >12-2 might result in a non-DVD-compliant output. Since I asked that question I noticed my TMPGEnc encoder also defaults to 12-2, and maybe one other.
In any case, yes, DVD-RB set to "Use encoder default" results in 12-2 with HC and not Autogop as you might expect. But it should not be a problem for your encodes that I can tell anyway.
Here's that thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=103834)

12-2 would be the correct default for a Film source.

ya actually I think I was a bit wrong. I was during the OPV sizing prediction (using HC) that I noticed the 12-2 GOP, but during the actual encode it showed up as Film. Regardless I don't think there are any problems, just something I noticed.
