Now this problem seems to be very pervasive and I've seen it often, so I don't know if there is a better name for it. Unfortunately despite that I have not been able to locate a definite solution for it. So far I've only found threads on rainbowing which also applies, but isn't my main concern here. In anycase, the problem is better illustrated with a sample clip

For maximum annoyance, loop the video indefinitely and you feel like ripping the video out of the screen. It appears to be caused by bad deinterlacing on the source. There's nothing I can do about that, so I need to fix what I have. Anybody can lead me in the right direction? Thanks.
