I can't seem to get my burned DVD's, using DVD shrink, IfoEdit, and DVD Decrypter
to play on my stand-alone DVD player. They play just fine on my PC DVD drive.
I've followed the 'DVD shrink for dummies', and the 'What to do if your burn
plays on your PC but not on your standalone' posts, and am getting stuck at
doing a 'mock strip of the movie's IFO'. I open up the movie's VIDEO_TS.IFO
file in IfoEdit, and click on the VOB extras(my version has 'menu extras').
I can click 7 of the 8 boxes the post says to check, but I am unable to check
strip streams, as it's grayed out. What am I missing here?
Thanks!

Did you enable bitsetting? Did you use +R media? Did you check for player/media compatibility (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers)?

1) What brand and format of burnable media are you using?
2) What speed are you burning at?
3) What brand and model number burner are you using?

You need to open a VOB that is not a menu (not a _0.VOB or VIDEO_TS.VOB) in IfoEdit (http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/) in order to get VOB extras to work. In essence, you need to load the problematic VOB. Then follow the guide here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84097).
But why would you need a mock strip? Is your output from DVD Shrink not playable on a software player such as Media Player Classic (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358)? If it is, then you got a burning issue. In which case, read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49635).

I was using the guide as mentioned by blutach to
get 'vob extras' to work-I just have to do it via 'menu extras'. I thought I needed mock strip
because the post 'What to do if your burn
plays on your PC but not on your standalone' says
that if the DVD plays on your computer DVD player(powerDVD) but not your stand-alone, the I need to make one. I've read and followed the 'Golden rules of burning'.
I'm using Maxell DVD+R, burning at 4X, on a Memorex dual format, 'Nero 6 Memorex suite.
I wasn't able to enable 'bitsetting' or 'book type'
as that option was grayed out in the burn settings of 'backup'.
Arghhh...I just checked 'player/media compatibility', and my Toshiba doesn't support DVD+R media, Doh!!!! I need to buy me a newer DVD player(and maybe upgrade to a recorder), that can also play MP3's!
Sorry for wasting your guys time, but I'm still not sure why when I click on the VOB extras,
I can click 7 of the 8 boxes the post says to check, but I am unable to check
strip streams, as it's grayed out. Maybe I don't need to do the IfoEdit step? Well, let me try to either burn to DVD-R media, or buy a new player, then I'll take it from there. Thanks again, guys!

Glad to hear that you've found the simple solution to your dilemma!
For MOST DVD backups, you'll find that you don't have to do any processing with IFOEdit...

Don't know if this helps (using DVD+R) on my older HP300n DVD Drive, I used shrink with Nero burning enabled and checked off the 2 boxes on burning options (DVD rom and Burn at least), I was not able to change the book type any other way. On my new Lg I have to use the book setting option in DVD Decrypter as Shrink won't set it.
