Hello, Talk about being a newbee, I'm reading & searching but have no clue, even what the newbees are asking. But for right now I have this one problem that I need to get out of the way if all possible.
I have Dscrypter and DVDShrink 3.2, from a guy at work. On my old burnner no problems done with both in a hr. Had to buy new burner, some fancy thing that has a long list of capabilities. The Decrypt part is fine, just slightly longer but the DVDShrinks take several hrs. Can you tell me why please?? I know ,"ask the guy at work",can't died. Thanks so much for your help.
thanks

Pete

Hi!

What part of the DVD Shrink activity is taking a long time?

Make sure that DMA is turned on for your burner (and other drives)...

Read this DMA Guide Here (http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm) to make sure you are Not in PIO mode but in DMA as setarip_old suggested.

Also, make sure you do not have a USB 2.0 drive connected to a USB 1.1 port.

Are you using WinXP operating system?

Hi setarip_old,
Thanks for your reply.I have no idea what part, to tell you the truth. I wouldn't recognize it if it me in the face with a 2x4. When the Decrypt is done, I bring up DvdShrink and I just hit 'open files', high light where I see the name of my movie and then hit on ' back up'. Then hit 'ok' for the region is concern. Hit'ok' where it ask to delete the other files and doing that it seems to kick start the ' analizing,' encoding and burning proccess. Looking at the time to shrink it says sometimes up to 11 hrs. and it isn't kidding.
As you can tell, I have no clue what you are all talking about but I be darn that I wouldn't like to find out by the time I'm done.
For the DMA, I'll do what I can with that but first I gotta know what that is. I have feeling a " DUH " comes in here just about now. right?
Maybe a private emailing??will do for a bit. Not wanting to keep embaracing anyone. Thanks a bunch for your help. Will get back to you asap.
Be Bless,
Pete

Hi Feedback,
Thanks for your suggestions and I will get right on them and get back with you all on those. Yes, I am using 'XP Pro".
Absolutely on the 'assuming thing' I usually don't. I just don't know what I'm not susppose not to assume at. Plus like the the man once said" To assume one makes an: ASS out of U and ME.
Yes, you're right and isn't it like " The NUT behind the wheel" too?

Thanks again guys/gals. Gotta head off to work. If I don't see ya before Christmas, wishing you all a very Merry one and a very safe one also.TTYL, :0)

Be BLess,
Pete

Hi setarip_old and Feedback,
Hope you and your families had agreat Christmas, many blessings I'm sure.
On the DMA thing, checked it out in the device mgr. and here is what it says.

Device 0
Device Type: Not Highlighted
Transfer Mode:DMA if available
Current transfer Mode: PIO Mode
Device 1
Device Type:Auto Detection
Transfer Mode: DMA if available
Current Transfer Mode: Not Applicable
If I need to change something here to quicken my shrink time, how do I go about it? for all I can do is hit on the drop down arrows.

On the Shrink part I believe it is the Encoding and the Burning that is taking the hrs to do. Now on the USB port part I have not a clue to find out how they are connected. I did checked into the device Mgr. on them,if that is what you mean, and all indicated being working properly other than that , I'm in the dark on how to check for what you mean.
My hard drive is an 80g and it is slightly than 1/2 full. Could that make a diff by chance?
Again I want to thank you for your help very much appreciated. Hopefuly and maybe not to long from now I can help some other poor slob out.Have a great day.

Be Bless,
Pete

Hi All,
setarip_old and Mr./ Mrs. Moderator,I'll respond in a sec but first I want to thank those who had responded to help me in 'Burning Time II' Les,Niann and you setarip_old very much appreciated and I will do my deligence at your suggestions to remedy my dilima.
Now as for creating a new thread. Not only a newbie with this burning thing but I'm a newbie to computers period. This is my first trip with this 'Forum" adventure as well. I mentioned that I would get back with you kind people who had responded to help in this "Thread". When I was able to,after Xmas, I'm thinking," okay that response was a few days ago more than likely no one will be looking a few days back for my response".
So not to lose you guys and this is a new day and also so that you all would recognize me,from the other day, I posted a Burning Time II.
Now setarip_old, yes indeedee I sure did and changes there was. I still have a ways to go tho but I'm sure with the help you all provided I'll find remedy. Thank you all very much.
Now Mr./Mrs. Moderator, Seems I had ruffled your little feathers somewhat, beleive me it was not intentional and I hope my explaination above will suffice Sir/ Mamm. I do beleive with all the great help I recieved from those that responded I'll have things fixed in no time and rest assured when I'm knowledgeable it will be my desire to help others unforntunately I can't guarantee here for I'm not the one to walk on eggshells. I would like however to suggest a website I have found with a heck of a product,www.solomonst.stemtechhealth.com for those who seriously need a chill pill.Have a great New Year all and like the man said" May the good Lord take a likening to you"

Not in this thread. ;)

I've been remiss in my duties, I must confess; I've failed to specifically point you to the Forum Rules and name the violations. With your first post to this thread, you violated Rules 1, 1a, 2, and 9. Did I miss any? It should have been obvious at this point that you'd totally ignored the Rules as well as the digital document you signed agreeing to adhere to these rules when you created your Doom9 account.

In your second thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=104721) , that I closed, you broke Rule 9, again, and added Rule 8 to the mix. Your consistency is outstanding.

In this post, a revisit to your original thread, you've broken Rule 4, and probably Rule 11, but let's not split hairs. I suppose I should apologize for wounding your ego to the point that you felt you had to lash out in order to save face, and as far as addressing me personally as "Mr./Mrs Moderator"? Use either, I'm pretty secure in my sexuality.

Let's keep this all above board, why don't we? I'll now issue a Rule 4 strike (counts double) and point you to the Forum Rules. I'd suggest you give them a good going over; it's a privilege to post at Doom9, not a right. Protect yours, or risk losing it.
