What filter can show the "date stamp" of of avi file created by Canon digital camera

Canon digital camera records avi files using MJPG format and no time or date stamps. I just wonder if there is a filter that can read the date when the avi file was created so the date can be stamped into the video when convert to another format such as Divx.

I can use Subtitle to add date stamp but it is so inconvenient if there are many clips.
