Now this is odd, I have successfully backed up DVD's using the (now classic combination of) DVDD 3.5.4.0 and DVD Shrink -then burned with Nero 6 Ultra Burning ROM with never a DVDD error.
I decided to upgrade to Nero 7 (7.0.1.4) a week ago, figuring the 'new bugs' might be worked out, and see what's new and different.
Backing up Bill Mahr's "Victory Begins At Home" Region 1 DVD, we got past VOB1 in DVDD ...and then... "Waiting for read thread" message popped up and everything just sat there. The DVD source deck (NEC) stopped reading, and ---nothing.
I erased the files written so far, rebooted, and tried it again using the Lite-On DVD deck as the source. Same thing.
OKAY, then. So I tried "The Awful Truth" Season 2 and, "Waiting for read thread" popped up again. :scared:
So, I deleted Nero 7 Ultra and re-installed Nero 6 (6.6.0.16), opened DVDD and into the NEC went Bill Mahr's DVD, and no problems at all. Processed Mahr with the Lite-On and... no problems at all. Same with Mr. Moore.
Since the only thing I changed to get things working was reverting Nero 7 back to Nero 6, it seems like a fair guess that Nero 7 is not playing well with DVDD.
Anyone else have DVDD hang with Nero 7 Ultra like this? It made me wonder if Nero hadn't been 'pursuaded' to install a DVDD trap... :confused: :devil:
