Cannot FULL SCREEN in WMP10

I simply cannot full screen with WMP10. I've searched google for days to find a solution but nothing came up.

What's interesting is that whenever a specific directshow filter is used, WMP 10 will go full screen. I have only found 2 filters that will work and they are WMV 9 codec and Nero DVD decoder. Any other video codec will not full screen (i.e., divx, GPL, mpeg decoder, etc.

When I try to force a full screen the screen goes black for awhile and goes back to normal after approx. 3~4 seconds and the video continues playing.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with WMP 10 and have a solution? I'm open to any suggestions.

Make sure you have the latest video drivers installed for your card and also make sure "High quality mode" is enabled in Tools | Options | Performance | Advanced.

I have the latest catalyst drivers installed and high quality mode has always been enabled. Like I said, full screen only works for specific direct show filters, if others are used it will not go full screen. Even the basic "MPEG video decoder" will not full screen.

Try this: play some audio file in WMP and select "Battery -> Random" for visualization. Try going to full screen. Then select "Bars and Waves -> Bars" viz. Try going to full screen now. Do both visualizations let you go to full screen?
If I recall correctly, failure to switch to full screen in either of those two visualizations would indicate a problem with DirectX or video driver.

Also note that there are some full screen switches in Tools | Options | Performance | Advanced that might help you, so try them out and see if they have any effect.

Yeah I'd suggest Media Player Classic as well, there are numerous advantages to MPC over WMP. Namely the lack of bloat, and the fact (related to your question) that it changes from full screen to normal almost instantly.
