"Last Sector of VMG" Problem

Hello.

That is probably a fight between Ifoedit and PgcEdit. :D

I make just a backup and eased first my DVD around some rubbish. Now however the problem emerges, the PgcEdit the "Last Sector of VMG" with the value 29 stores and IfoEdit(Get VTS Sectors) with 13. :confused:

Again in the detail as I proceeded:
1. Different menu contents and all refer etc. killed, in particular all in the VMG. (I leave 4 dummy vmgm of 26)
2. With jeanl's FixVTS the entire project cleaned and received a VIDEO_TS. VOB with the size 0. 4. VIDEO_TS. VOB deleted and "Get VTS Sectors" implemented.
5. In PgcEdit still another little works on and stored.
6. Nero strikes.

Someone has an idea??

BTW: I can attach the Ifos when desired.

Update:

I set now the remained VMG_VOBU_ADMAP on the values 0. The valued of theLast Sector of VMG now slightly changed:
PgcEdit: 27
Ifoedit: 11

Herewith the problem with Nero apparently is solved. Nevertheless I would gladly understand, how this different valued come into being.

Here is a transcript of a PM reply I have written yesterday that explain why there are some differences between the Get VTS Sectors function of IfoEdit and the save IFOs with PgcEdit.

I'm successfully using the DVD+R DL burning guide which you guided me through. Only thing strange is that if I do a "get VTS sectors" with ifoedit in the VIDEO_TS folder then something gets corrected.

What I mean is that after Pgcedit have processed the scanning and iso creation something must have been changed in the VIDEO_TS folder, since a get vts sectors corrects something.

The burned stuff is thereby not "corrected". But it works in my standalone.

How can this be explained. Normally its best always to do a get vts sectors.

If you use the 32K gap option in PgcEdit, the method to calculate the VTS sectors is different than the method used by IfoEdit. To force the gap, some sector pointers are increased. A burning or ISO creation software which takes care to those pointers (such as mkisofs) use them to know how the files must be placed on the disc.
A similar method is used to align the layer break cell properly when burning a DL DVD.

The Get VTS Sectors function of IfoEdit is very "basic". It assumes that all files must be placed side by side. Although it works, you may have an IFO and BUP on the same ECC block, which is risky. And it's not suitable at all to burn a DL DVD.

Note that Nero works exactly like IfoEdit. It changes the VTS sector pointers like IfoEdit, and put the files side by side. This is why it's not a good program to burn DL, and even single layer DVD-Videos.
More precisely, the Last Sector of VMG value is used by PgcEdit to inform mkisofs to leave a gap between VIDEO_TS.IFO (or VIDEO_TS.VOB if it exists) and VIDEO_TS.BUP.

I have now equal little tried out and noticed, that the values only different am, if none exists VIDEO_TS.VOB. Is that therefore correctly so?

This is why it's not a good program to burn DL, and even single layer DVD-Videos.
I use ImtoolBurn of "Coujo" which uses as you know on the Nero Engine. What uses you respectively which Way can you recommend?

A similar gap is added also in the VTS domains when the total size of the VOBs of the titleset is less than 32KB.

If you want to keep the extra protection against scratches, dust and defects offered by the 32KB gap technique, you must save the IFOs with PgcEdit, and burn the DVD with either PgcEdit, ImgTool classic and ImgBurn, or RecordNow. (But RecordNow is not free.)

To record double layer DVD+Rs, you must use PgcEdit, at least to select the layer break cell, and to write the IFOs on disc. After that, you can use ImgTool classic, or (probably) RecordNow if you wish.

As far as I know, all other burning programs are not good enough!

In the future therefore "after PgcEdit" first generate an ISO and burn then.

Momentarily not yet... To expensively and moreover there is no DL-RW for testing.
I ask yourself whether it DL-RW+ will generally sometime give... :confused:
