I have just recently applied 1.05.1 update and trying the first run w/ it everything went smooth, until I noticed my output was nearly twice what it should be and actually bigger than the source!
the title is dukes of hazard R1 I ran it though three times, using both dvdd, and fab to obtain the source both provided similar results! the files only got larger through encoding!
in the rb config file there is no target sectors for cce setting or I would edit it. is this something that has been changed, because I'm sure it used to be there!
any suggestions??? there is a lot of crap segments showing up in pgcedit but I get no I/O errors w/ dvdd and can't find the guide I used before the psl2 plug-in wizard, I don't even know if this would help kinda reaching here!

are you sure this is the output and not the working folder and output?
what were the min/max/average typical bitrates from the log
targetsectors is a custom setting, if you dont add it, its not there to edit.
what are the file sizes of the input and outputs (by file)
did you preprocess? if you did, run again without it

Are there any multi angle or multi storey scenes?

In fact, why don't you just send me your REBUILDER.INI file (dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com) so I can make sure I use the exact same settings?

only one angle, no special settings just defaults, there is a lot of junk (extra's) but I usually preserve those and make a full back-up using 10% reduction on extra's
I alway's output to iso for burn w/ imgburn, but both iso and vts files are 9.59gb's
w/ the fab rip they were 9.56gb's
there was no mention in dvdd of inserting dummy's but upon closer inspection W/ pgcedit there were about 15 segment's reading dummy!
psl2 plugin could not find them and told me to find them manually as I'm fairly new to this app I opted to take it to the experts here!
@ jdobbs ini file on the way!

G'day l8nights. Great to see you mate. :)
Run the rip through FixVTS (www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS). Clearly the rip is bad if it reports 9.5Gb. You might have the normal arccos crap of funny sectors in the vts_vobu_admap, which FixVTS takes care of easily.

hey blu, it's really good to see you, I tried the fixvts processing,it's seems to have found some gremlins :thanks: , just about to run the processed file through and will let you know how it turns out!
I was begining to think that this whole thing was due to a template for cce I created while doing a little experimenting w/ new divx, codec! because fantastic four did the same thing but the template is deleted!
any way's the bitrate constantly hovers @ 6 mbps(both films)??
I thought that was odd!

it's a no go, the processed files still give me 9 gb files, short of being a test subject for rogaine, the only thing I know to do is uninstall/reinstall cce!

Sorry mate, did I misinterpret you? What was the size of the rip with DVD Decrypter/wizard?
If it accords with the original, have you tried any other encoder?

okay there's the rub, the original (ripped) files were if, I remember right, around 7.5gbs smaller than the output! I have processed them now several times, the last being w/ vobblanker
I will see how that turns out now and report back in the morn. as it's quite late here!
as for encoders I've kinda stuck to cce for speed puposes as I've encoded something like nine times now! hc is my next try!

if you run the prepare phase ONLY what are the bitrates?

@l8nights
I should be testing this today. I bought it yesterday... but got sidetracked when my primary server gave up the ghost.
It seems that all electronic devices are highly dependent upon smoke. Because I've noticed that when you somehow spring a leak and the smoke gets out -- they always stop working.

is fixvts to be used only if something is suspect or can you use it anyway without it causing issues ?

I backed up this movie with v1.04, NTSC R1 unrated version. This was a Warner Home Video, no ArcCos protection that I remember. I did full movie backup, DVDDecrypter to rip,CCE 2.67 ,no preprocessing, and the backup came out perfect, 4.32GB.

Primarily, FixVTS is meant to fix suspect authoring that causes shrink (and other programs) to fail to open a DVD. It fixes a few internal pointers in the vob, reconstructs some tables in the IFOs, and renumbers the VCID the way they should be. If you use that on a good DVD, it won't break it (that's the hope at least!), and in fact, it probably wont change anything to it.
But it can fix problems in some suspect DVDs...
More details on exactly what it does can be found here (http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/) under "Features".

@l8nights
I'm running the job now using the INI setting you sent me.... but it doesn't look like it is having any problems. Everything appears to be sized correctly so far. I'll let it finish and see what happens...

if you run the prepare phase ONLY what are the bitrates?
HIGH/LOW/TYPICAL Bitrates: 8,808/1,773/2,490 Kbs
even though I have everything set to vbr the bitrate is constantly 6.0 I have erased all templates in rebuilder ( there were three??) and cce and this run is not looking to good!
my next option is hc to isolate the prob!

hmmm, interesiting theory but I don't think I'll be testing that one out!

for all interested I resorted to clean install of cce and that did the trick!
I'm guessing that either creating the template, or use of dvdtosvcd interfered w/ the defaults of cce! the world may never know??
sorry for the red alert there jdobbs!! but your dedication is admirable!
