@jdobbs - Thanks for 1.05.1 - didn't even have to update the key :)

The zipped updates did not have paths in them. I thought it might be useful to remind folks who are new to updating via the zip file to pop the 2 encoders in their respective sub-folders.

Good idea. I didn't give it any thought.

1.05.2 didn't have paths either.... At first I thought, what if someone installed it in a different directory than the default. That shouldn't matter though. Now, if someone made changes to the sub-dirs, and can't imagine why someone would, it would "break" things to some degree.

The zip is not an installer... it is a zip file that contains the files that have changed. If you want the files installed in directories -- that is the purpose of the full installer.

The ONLY reason the zip file is provided is so that folks who have limited bandwidth can download more quickly. I highly suggest that all updates be done using the installer.

It happened to me for the first time that after using the update files 1.05.2 (didn't use 1.05.1) some of my settings have disappeared:
CCEAQM=
CCETargetSectors=
min_bitrate=
vts_min_size=
Q_sample_percentage=
are all gone

I can handle updating with the zip file without any problem. I wanted to try it so that I didn't have to go through the entire, normal install process, especially the encoder selections and so on.

If you suggest using the full installer everytime, I might just start doing that. My 'net connection won't blink at downloading that package.

Just remember to say "No" when asked if you want to replace your existing INI file if you don't want to lose your old settings.

You probably overwrite your rebuilder.ini file

As I'm not using the installer it can't be me who overrides anything.

Have you loaded a project file or template? Those settings all can be changed from project to project.

The zip is useful just for a "quick update" and yes, to ensure you preserve your INI file.

You can usually recognise where things go, but maybe it wouldn't be too difficult for jdobbs to circulate the zip with paths?

Re-installing each time, especially for a "dot" update like 1.05.1 to 1.05.2 can be a bit of a pain.

Hope everyone had a great new year.

No I haven't. Just copied the new files to my RB directory and startet RB.

Hmmm... I don't see how unzipping the new version could somehow change the values in your REBUILDER.INI file unless there is a new INI in the zip file -- and there isn't. I have no answer.

If you as the author can't answer this question nor can I. ;)
There are never Rebuilder.ini files in the update zip, but if you implement new program options the ini will be updated nevertheless.

But it won't change what is already there...
