View Full Version : Sticking subtitles in mp4 videos

I used MP4Box to add subtitles into mp4 videos. Works ok, except that the subtitles are "sticking": They are appearing at the right moment, but they are only disapearing when the next subtitle appears. So, it means that if there is a subtitle before a long time without any subtitle, it will stick on the video until a new subtitle comes, which is quite annoying.
I use VLC, and I'm on a Mac.
Does anybody else had this kind of problem?
cheers,
kaz

seems to be a problem in vlc not showing "empty subs" (aka removing subs after displaying)
i posted this in the vlc forum (http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=9507&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15), lets see if a dev responds

@kaz219: I've experienced this issue too. VLC's MPEG-4 Timed Text decoder isn't working properly imho. It still needs some work. Normally, I would've bugged the VLC devs about it, but when MPC plays ttxt in mp4 perfectly, I don't bother :D
I use VLC and I'm on Windows, so I guess it's not an OS issue.

Has there been an update that fixes the issue with anamorphic video?

Has there been an update that fixes the issue with anamorphic video? What does that have to do with ttxt? And anamorphic isn't MPC's problem, it's you who have to set the XviD/ffdshow decoder to play anamorphic.

when i mux srt subs with x264 video with yamb, and play with mpc, the subs show at the right times, but the first line is in a large font and the second is small. i have the latest versions of all programs.
there is nothing wrong with the srt files, because when i use "load subtitles" with mpc while playing the unmuxed mp4, it plays perfectly. any suggestions please? :)

as you can see on the .ttxt, it seems mp4box doesnt handle .srt with these font tags, maybe this f*s things up. try without them
