After forcefilm still interlaced

hi all

i have made a small test with the DVD2AVI (d2v) prog.
i have heard, that when i use FORCE FILM, that it will give me progressive source. But after using it, my anime is still interlaced but it has automaticly fixed my 2 problems that i reported on this thread: croppy interlacing (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=103954)

first i got impressed how it could fix my 2 problems, but the source is still interlaced and i have to get a VERY VERY good deinterlacer.

does anyone know a good solution?

Force film doesn't deinterlace, it undoes 3:2 pulldown, which isn't quite the same thing.

If you have an interlaced source, you're guaranteed to mess it up using force film. You have to use a real deinterlacer for those. You can tell because every frame is interlaced.

If the source is actually encoded with the 3:2 pulldown, ie hard-pulled down, force film will also screw it up. In that case you should use Honor Pulldown Flags and use your favorite IVTC in script.

Only if it's soft pulldown, which DGIndex would report as Film 95%+, will the option work.

Edit: It's probably old enough to be hard-telecined, though I didn't check; as they said in the other thread just use TFM/TDecimate after indexing with honor pulldown.

LeakKernelDeint and TDeint are two of the most popular. There's a ton of information on this topic out there, one of the most comprehensive is this ivtc page (http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm). (It's a bit dated, just think dgindex where it mentions dvd2avi.)
